Step 1 (Part A): Am I Income-Eligible? Let's Find Out!
The government has income limits for this program. Enter your details below to see if you meet the basic income requirement. This calculator helps you check against the income levels; other conditions for priority status (like living in a disadvantaged community) require official verification.

**Priority Applicants also include those who live in a disadvantaged community (as defined by CalEnviroScreen 4.0) or a low-income community (as defined by AB 1550), regardless of whether their income is below 225% FPL but still at/below 300% FPL. This calculator primarily checks income; official application verifies community status.

Step 1 (Part B): Quick Check on Other Basic Conditions!
Besides income, you just need to meet these simple criteria:
- Are you 18 or older? You must be at least 18 years old.
- Are you a California resident? More on proof for this in the next step.

Step 2: Apply Online - The Government Needs to Review
Now, you'll need to visit the official California E-Bike Incentive Project website to fill out the application form.

The application will verify your identity, California residency, and household income. You may also need to complete a short e-bike safety training. Key documents usually include:
- A valid California Driver’s License, valid California AB 60 License, or valid California ID Card. Ensure your address is current or have proof of address if it's different.
- Your most recent Federal Tax Transcript (if you file taxes).
- If you do not file taxes, the program will specify alternative income verification documents you can provide.
How Long Does It Take?
Be patient! It can take up to 60 days (sometimes more) for the government to review applications and issue approvals, especially if demand is high.
You MUST wait until you receive an official approval notification AND your Voucher code BEFORE you buy an e-bike. E-bikes purchased before approval are not eligible for the subsidy!
Step 3: Voucher Received! You're Getting Closer!
If your application is approved, the government will send you a Voucher code. This code is your "golden ticket" to purchasing your subsidized e-bike!
Redemption Deadline:
Once you receive your voucher, you typically need to redeem it by purchasing an eligible e-bike within 45 days. If you need more time, you can usually request a one-time 45-day extension. Check your voucher notification for specific deadlines and extension request procedures.
Step 4: Take Your Voucher & Get Your VANPOWERS E-Bike!
Fantastic! Now you can:
- Take your Voucher code.
- Find a VANPOWERS partnered and government-certified dealership. The official program will provide an up-to-date list of all approved retailers.
